How to choose the right walking stick? Or Cane?

How to choose the right walking stick? Or Cane?
The simple way to choose the right walking stick is to know a little bit about the walking stick.
Hickory is strong and hard but it can be a little heavy, but it will not let you down, and will probably out last you.
Sweet Gum is lightweight and also strong, and is excellent for long hikes. It also a great choice for lady's to use and older people.
Maple Walking Stick is somewhat lightweight at least lighter than a hickory, maple has an advantage over most woods in that it is hard but also fairly lightweight it is almost the perfect walking stick. The only downside is it's need a finish or it will rot over time... Which I put a finish on all my walking sticks...
Sassafras is strong and lightweight it is a great walking stick of choice for lady's and guys. It is great for anybody cause you feel like you have a strong but lightweight walking stick, not as strong as maple but it is a good choice for a walking stick..

So those are some choices for walking sticks and canes for you to choose from..
